Chrissy Teigen, model/author/entrepreneur and her husband, singer John Legend, discovered their son Miles has type 1 diabetes in July of 2024. Miles was hospitalized for an intestinal infection and that's when doctors noticed irregularities in his blood work. Further testing showed he has type 1 diabetes.
Teigen said the next few months were especially challenging as the family adjusted to a new routine involving daily insulin injections and continuous glucose monitoring. Miles wasn't sure if he could still enjoy treats or participate in sports. To help him understand his condition, Teigen and Legend read him the book, "Year One With Type One."
Since then, Teigen has become an advocate for early detection of type 1 diabetes, partnering with medical research company Sanofi to let parents know they can get T1D screening info at: ScreenForType1.com.
